Brooklynites parade to celebrate the Centenary of Brooklyn, New York

View from above of parade along city street celebrating the centenary of Brooklyn, New York. American flag and bunting decorate Brooklyn Borough Hall (former City Hall) near elevated train station. Crowds of Brooklyn residents and visitors watch from sidewalks and some ticker tape is thrown from buildings. Marchers dressed in white carry oversized forks and spoons and follow a decorated truck float carrying Salvation Army members. The back of the float is a sign reading: "Waste Material Helps Us to Reclaim Broken Humanity." Brooklyn Firemen march in dress uniforms. Behind them, dozens of war veterans march, wearing shiny steel helmets and carrying American flags. New York City Mayor, Fiorello LaGuardia, and other officials, salute with hats over hearts, as American Flags pass. Sign on pole near them reads: "Cruising Taxis prohibited." Boy Scouts, carrying dozens of American and troop flags, parade, followed by men in Native American Indian costumes and then by various fraternal groups in the line of march.

Celebration of Army Day in Manhattan, New York City, United States, in 1941, prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor causing the U.S. to enter World War 2.. View from high on a building overlooking 5th Avenue and Central Park, of U.S. Army units parading on Army Day. Street-level view shows color guard followed by marchers. Central Park is seen at left, and spectators line sidewalks on both sides of Fifth Avenue. The street is wet and many spectators carry umbrellas. A reviewing stand, on the Central park side of the Avenue, contains military officers and political leaders. Among those seen are: Lieutenant General Hugh A. Drum, who is flanked in the front row by New York Governor, Herbert Lehman, and New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. Next to the Mayor, A Fire Chief represents the NYFD ( the Commissioner was being replaced) and next to him is NYPD Commissioner Lewis Valentine. They are seen saluting. In the line of march members of the 44th Division Ski Patrol are seen carrying their skis. People sit with umbrellas to watch the parade. Some bleachers set up have few spectators, because of the rain. A child watches the soldiers. Four British working men, visiting America, are seen in overcoats on the deck of a ship passing the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor during World War II. They are accompanied by four American workers who were returning on the same ship, from a similar visit to England. After that they are seen heading into the White House, where they are met by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, who comes out of the White House to greet them on the porch. (Narrator says she later invited them inside for tea.) The men are next seen climbing the Capitol steps. Vice President Henry A. Wallace comes out to greet them and comments about industrial production not only during the war, but in the time of peace to follow.
