Soldiers walk on road in snowy winter conditions. Snow on either side of road. Scene changes to Russian soldiers in a formation on a parade field. Russian military officer stands in front of troops and keep his hand on his sword. He moves past his troops and stands at the end. A band stands next to him. Other troops are also standing in the field. Russian troops march toward the camera position. A soldier holds a flag at the head of the forces on parade.
French soldiers advance as per orders from French General Maurice Sarrail in Macedonia, Greece, during World War 1. The soldiers advance along with supplies loaded on carts and horses. They cross mountains covered with vegetation, after having crossed the Vardar River. World War I.
Army Service Corps soldiers play games during military tournaments in Woolwich. The tournament is held to raise funds for Blue and Red Cross in World War I. In one game ( "horse and rider") a man, carried on shoulders of his teammate, tries to unseat an opponent carried by another. Both "rider" opponents use poles padded with boxing gloves. Another soldier exhibits card tricks at a table. A large crowd gathers for the games.

A staff car drives into the area, displaying a German flag on its hood and the German Eagle crest on its door. It skids about momentarily in the mud. Supplies being loaded into the railroad box cars under supervision of German officers. Troops marching into an encampment, where others are being served food from a German field kitchen. Rifles are stacked in a large mound. Soldiers line up and appear to be receiving their pay at a paymaster window in a building. Troops in full field gear march, in a loose column, out of the encampment. German infantry in pointed helmets (Pickelhauben) marching, out of camp, through mud toward the front lines.
