A large crane moving material to a bridge from ground. Workers engaged in welding work. Sparks at the welding site. A large crane moving iron. Workers building giant ships in shipyards. Workers walk on docks beside a ship under construction in a shipyard.
A nurse weighs a baby on a mono-pan balance. The baby cries. A doctor examines the baby. Two babies with nurses. A baby with curled hairs appears. The winner, 11-month old baby is in its mother's lap. They stand with the trophy.
Henry Brown and his wife and two children board a horse cart. The horse cart moves, passing fields, trees and stores in Tuskegee, Macon County, including WJ Brantleys grocery market and the Macon Theatre on Northside Street. They reach an Army Air Force Base (Moton Field). Henry's eldest son, a cadet of 99th Pursuit Squadron (Tuskegee Airmen African American fliers in World War 2) receives them. They all move to the aerodrome where planes are parked. Henry's eldest son gets ready for a flight. He enters the cockpit. The plane takes off. The two children wave their hands. Henry and his wife look to the sky.
U.S. Army soldiers move on road in vehicles and a military station wagon. They march with guns on their shoulders. They escort African American students (the "Little Rock Nine") from Little Rock Central High School, to the waiting car. The students enter the car. Driver is seen as the car leaves the school grounds.
Soldiers of 101st Airborne Division during celebrations of Catholic Mass. An army chaplain and a civilian priest, in street garb, conduct the mass. They stand in field near buildings on the base (in background) with books in their hands. A boy plays a portable organ during the mass. Soldiers sing hymns. Near end of the sequence, the boy is seen standing next to one of the soldiers (most likely his father) taking part in the mass.
Campus of Slossfield Work Center, a National Youth Administration (NYA) Center in Alabama. African American girls in a waiting room reading books on a table. Few others sit on a bench.
