A film on manufacture of dynamite in the United States. Gelatin dynamite is manufactured. Nitroglycerin is first run into a bronze bowl equipped with paddles for the manufacture of gelatin dynamite. Men working inside a factory. Then nitrocotton is added. When this mixture is stirred, nitroglycerin is gelatinized by nitrocotton. This gives the explosive its plasticity and water-resisting power. Other dry ingredients are added and mixing continues. Men remove the finished gelatin with wooden scoops to eliminate the possibility of striking a spark from the metal. It is fed on a belt to a gelatin cartridging machine. It is packed into paper shells. Certain types of dynamite are dipped in metal paraffin for additional waterproofing. The dynamite is packed.
