Russian children gather around an American Army YMCA worker who throws candy to them, during World War 1. He wears a YMCA symbol on the right sleeve of his uniform. He sits with a small child and gives him a candy to eat. Rural wooden houses are seen in the background. Several boys sit in a row posing for the camera. They are dressed in clothing indigenous to the area. Two wear Cossack-style hats.
Russian Crown Jewels. A display of the Czar's jewelery on a table. A crown embedded with jewels in view. Faberge eggs. Various other precious jewelery like bracelets, rings and a sword embedded with diamonds.
Russian soldiers fight with the enemy in various Russian towns during World War II. Masses of abandoned German equipment in Venev. Russian Generals confer. They give further orders for the war. Tanks move forward. Bombers take off and infantry assaults another town. They arrive in Rogachev. Destroyed houses and buildings. Planes hover over the area. A wrecked railroad bridge.
Events during World War I. Elaborate civilian funeral procession. A white cart pulled by a draped horse, leads the procession, followed by a Crucifer and mourners, followed, in turn, by an elaborate carriage, containing a coffin, pulled by a team of 4 draped and plumed horses. A host of other persons follows the casket.
Events during World War I. Armed sentry, standing by a locomotive, flying a flag, which has stopped to allow a slowly moving steam locomotive to pass. The locomotive is pulling a train in snow. Engine of train emits steam and smoke. Steam from the passing locomotive envelopes and obscures the sentry. Numerous box cars are pulled by the locomotive.One is covered by floral decoration. An open flat car is loaded with hay bales. View from roof of locomotive as train proceeds along tracks in open country.
Events during World War I. Russian troops parade through town . Officers salute parading troops. Spectators watch from sidewalks and from entrance steps of building. Parading troops shoulder rifles with fixed bayonets. Horse-drawn caissons and artillery pieces bring up rear of parade. As they pass, spectators with little children walk out into street and follow them. Artillerymen with field guns,caissons and horse teams, are inspected by officers on horseback.
