Fascist Oswald Mosley addresses rallies and riots break out in Manchester and London, England.
Oswald Mosley, head of British Union of Fascists, at a rally in Manchester, England. Hecklers object to him and his Union Movement message. Policemen try to control the situation. Many people receive injuries. A man with a bleeding head injury. A woman thrown to the ground. Oswald holds another rally on Ridley Road, Dalston, London. A large number of people protest in the street against Oswald and his movement. He speaks into a microphone but is drowned out by the protesting crowd as policemen hold people behind a human chain. When Oswald cannot be heard over the disturbance he stops the speech as riots break out. Men engage in fisticuffs. 54 men are arrested in connection with the fist fighting and photographers take pictures as Oswald leaves.

Congress hears U.S. President Franklin D Roosevelt's annual State of the Union message in Washington D.C. President Roosevelt talks about how no one expects the United States to send American youth again to fight on the soil of Europe (to be involved in World War 2) and he asserts that is still the United States position "for nobody expects such an undertaking." He recalls that President George Washington warned against entangling foreign alliances. He calls on congress to levy sufficient additional taxes to meet emergency spending needs for national defense (due to threat of war). Members of the Congress clap during President's State of the Union speech.
General Motors (GM) engages Detroit police to stop UAW-CIO picketing during strike. GM then obtains State Court injunction against picketing.
Film begins showing signs in business establishment window supporting General Motors strikers of Local 235 UAW-CIO. A siren in heard as the camera pans over a large group of uniformed Detroit City police officers, some on motorcycles. Across the street, several striking picketers carry signs, as another large group of police officers stand nearby. Street filled with strikers carrying signs. Police allow only 4 picketers, who cross from the street in which they are gathered, to the city of Hamtramick at the Detroit border. A group of 10 pickets is allowed by police to enter Hamtramick from the Detroit street. Next, a number of strikers' children challenges the police to cross the intercity boundary. Examines the steel industry in Youngstown, Ohio during World War II. Focuses on the steel production including the open hearth furnace and hot strip mill. Workers Mike Ubinski and Earl Strong remove a molten sample from an open hearth furnace and quench it in water. They then hammer the sample to prepare it for analysis. Earl Strong playing bass in the Youngstown Orchestra. The conductor is Michael Ficocelli, who is also time keeper at the steel mill. Shot of old man playing the violin.
