Pacifists, mostly women, march in a night time torchlight parade promoting Peace and Disarmament in the United States
A torchlight parade protesting war. Marchers are principally women. At start of film, a group of about 10 Women, all dressed in white, hold white streamers descending from a dove-like symbol of peace. The parade is conducted along a city street. Smoke rises all around from torches or bonfires beside the line of march. Some women carry a large banner reading: "Thou Shalt Not Kill." Other signs held by marchers appeal to Chemists and others who create tools of war, such as poison gas, to cease and desist such activities One sign reads: "Scientists Use Your Genius for Peace, Not War." A Bahai banner is carried by some marchers. Police officers monitor the march and marchers. Several women drape themselves in American flags. They are accompanied by a Civil War Union Army officer, carrying a sword. Many in the parade carry the same or similar signs and banners. Some are more legible when seen several times. Examples include: "Chemists, Help World Peace, Refuse to Make Poison Gas" and "Exploitation Leads to War, Abolish it." Other notable signs and slogans include: "Mothers pay the Heaviest War Tax;" "War is Not Inevitable. Human Nature does change;" "Immediate Universal Complete Disarmament;" and "We stand with Gandhi for World Peace." The last new one seen reads: " We will not give our children for another war."

National Guard troops are deployed in streets and at jail where anarchists are held in Centralia, Washington.
Washington State National Guard troops maintain order in Centralia, Washington, following Armistice Day deaths involving the Industrial Workers of the World union (I.W.W.). Soldiers, armed with rifles, patrol a roadway, as cars pass. Armed soldier moves several men from street to sidewalk. Contingent of soldiers march to police station, where they stop and fix bayonets to their rifles. A soldier posted in a vacant lot outside the Centralia jail where 37 anarchists are being held pending trial following the Centralia Massacre. A derelict wagon sits in the lot and a dog sniffs about. A group of men gathers outside building where slate states: " I.W.W.s maintained headquarters and from which they opened murderous fire that resulted in death of four ex-soldiers." (The headquarters was attacked by members of the American Legion during the Armistice Day parade.) Slate states: "Members of the American Legion demolished the headquarters of the anarchists and destroyed their seditious literature." Several men are seen rummaging through papers strewn about in front of the building beside the Roderick Hotel. A final slate quotes statement by Representative Johnson, Chairman of the U.S. Immigration Committee: "The Country must be purged of seditionists and revolutionists, and if this means war, the quicker it is declared the better."

The present flag of the United States of America consists of 13 equal horizontal stripes of red alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in canton bearing 50 small, white stars. The Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island holding a tablet which reads 'July IV, MDCCLXXVI', the date of American independence in Roman numerals. The other hand of the Statue holds a torch. Union Leaders gathered for a Labor meeting in New York. Meeting is conducted to achieve merger between AFL (American Federation of Labor) and CIO (Congress of Industrial Organizations). The President of AFL-CIO, George Meany and Vice President, Walter Reuther jointly bang the gable to open the meeting. Crowd cheers. Meany and Waler raise hands together. Crowd claps.
