Spanish and Italian Falangists and nationalists during a Spanish Day parade in Tangier, Morocco

Italian and Spanish officials gathered on the athletic field of the Italian School in Tangier, Morocco. In celebration by Italy of "Spanish Day", and of the Patron Saint Ferdinand by the right-wing nationalist Spaniards, an assembly is held. School boys march, some in a uniform of white short sleeve shirts and dark shorts; others in an all blue paramilitary uniform. Some of the boys carry rifles or drums. The students stand at attention with hands waved in a fascist salute while the Italian Minister and Dr. Avierno inspect. Then the boys march by the dignitaries. Festive streamer flags and flags of several nations wave. An audience of citizens is in the background in a grandstand. On behalf of Franco, Dr. Avierno is present and addresses those gathered. The other primary dignitary with him is the Italian Minister, in military uniform. He is joined by an honor guard of Italian Navy sailors. Palm trees visible behind Avierno speaking.

Jewish Refugees dine together at the Jews' Temporary Shelter, London East End, England

Jewish refugee men and women of all ages gathered together to eat at the Jews' Temporary Shelter, 63 Mansell Street, in London's East End. They sit at long tables. Women carry plates of food out to the tables. Some diners are wearing coats. A large parlor area. Some people sitting at a table working on documents. Others sitting, smoking, relaxing, and listening to a man playing the accordian. ( Supplemental notes: At the beginning of the clip (0.08-0.09 and 0.26-0,39) the gentleman with the moustache is Adolph Michaelson, who was superintendant of the Shelter. Later in the clip (at 0.1.30-01.48) the lady in the doorway is Mrs. Sarah Michaelson, who was matron of the Shelter. They ran the Shelter from about 1912 until 1940.)
