Church rites and parties mark 7th birthday of quintuplets in North Bay, Ontario. The quintuplets dressed in similar clothes sing choir in a church. They blow candles on a cake and hug each other. The famous five donate an ambulance to the Red Cross. Girls seated in the ambulance wear oxygen masks.
Speedway Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana. Fire fighters extinguish fire in what appears to be a garage facility. Next scene shows cars racing in the 1941 Indianpolis 500 race, driving on the track at great speed. Spectators watch the thrilling race. One of the drivers is severely hurt in an accident. Mauri Rose of Indianapolis teamed with Floyd Davis of Illinois win the Speedway Classic.
Shell back initiation ceremonies underway aboard The USS Edisto in the Pacific Ocean. Ensign Nelson, dressed as a cigarette girl, sits on a ladder and hands out gum and cigarettes to the sailors. The sailors tease him about his dress. They break an egg on a Pollywog's head. Another sailor act as a dog and follows his master with a rope in his neck. Doctor Savage dressed as a doctor examines the Pollywog. The ice-breaker USS Edisto (AG-89) was under the command of Commander E. C. Folger, USN. The ship was headed for Antartica, as part of the U.S. Navy Antarctic Development Project, a continuation of the 1947 "Operation High Jump."

Excellent views of a U.S. Navy HO3S-1A helicopter. (This is the U.S. Navy version of the Sikorsky S-51, also known as an H-5). This particular helicopter is one of the first four Sikorsky S-51 helicopters ordered by the U.S. Navy in 1946 for use in Operation High Jump operations in Antarctica. The helicopter on the ship deck in the Pacific Ocean . U.S. Navy Lieutenant Tracy gets onto the helicopter. The helicopter takes off from the ship deck. The navy helicopter comes back in for a landing. Lieutenant Tracy gets off the helicopter and crew members secure it on the flight deck.
Shellback initiation ceremonies aboard the U.S. Navy ship USS Indianapolis (CA-35) in the Atlantic Ocean. The ship is en route to South America carrying President Roosevelt on "Good Neighbor" state visits. Ambient sound and music is heard periodically during the clip. Sailors dressed in costumes perform on the ship deck. Sailors in uniform salute an officer. Actors perform on a stage. A pirate flag on the mast of the ship. King Neptune speaks to the captain (Captain Henry Kent Hewitt). A group of sailors play a band. Spectators watch the act. In second half of clip President Franklin Roosevelt is seen watching the ceremonies and at the end King Neptune decrees that President Roosevelt, the Commander In Chief of the U.S. Navy is now a Shellback himself (having crossed the equator for the first time with the sailors of the USS Indianapolis.
