Greece receives a lend-lease Submarine Chaser (USS PC 622) in Washington DC. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Officers and sailors of the U.S. and Royal Hellenic Navy attend the formal transfer ceremony at at the Washington Navy yard. Greek sailors wear caps displaying the words, "B Naytikon." The United States flag is lowered and the Greek flag hoisted on the ship. (The Greek Navy renamed the ship the "Vassilefs Georghios II.")
The huge IG Farben plant is blown up in Ebenhausen, Germany, 7 months after the end of World War 2 in Europe. The German war production plant produced tons of nitrocellulose daily for the German war. United States Army soldiers seated in a group. The Commanding Officer, Lt. General Lucian Truscott, discusses with another U.S. Army officer. A sign board reads: 'Schwaben Control Office'. Lt General Truscott activates the handle to trigger the explosive charge, and the plant is blasted by 200 tons of TNT. Army personnel examine the rubble and wrecked parts of the plant and its machinery.
The great U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, CV-6, arrives at New York. She returns from Southampton. Thousands of soldiers aboard returning from service in World War 2. Soldiers stand at the deck of the ship. They wave their hands. Soldiers with cups and trays in mess. They eat food. The ship and the soldiers honored by the Lord Mayor of the city at the English port.
