Inside the Sistine Chapel one seat that was occupied by Cardinal Montini is vacant. The newly appointed pope, who has taken the pontifical name Pope Paul VI, seated at the Papal Throne. He receives cardinals one by one. Alfredo Cardinal Ottaviani, in his capacity as the senior Cardinal Deacon, announced Montini's election.
