It was positioned to draw large amounts of German artillery fire and consume German ammunition. They adjust the dummy artillery gun. Then the soldiers remove camouflage covers over a trench to reveal a real artillery piece that they were protecting.
The role of women as active community members in the United States. A woman addresses members of the League of Women Voters. The posters of the candidates of elections on a table. Posters on a wall. Children play in a hall, being babysat by one woman as the other women meet. A woman walks with a baby in a pram. She talks to another woman. The League of Women Voters disseminates information on issues and candidates. Women members search the voters, make a list of the voters and call them to give them the information. Women make phone calls. A woman pastes the posters of candidate on a wall. People seated in a hall. Candidates address the women and talk to them about why they should vote them. People applaud. People line up in front of a hall on the election day to vote. The parents-teachers association (PTA) plans a new dance hall and organizes dance for high school students. Students dance and enjoy in the hall. They dance a square dance (Virginia Reel?) Narrator describes the new dance hall and activities there as an established weapon against juvenile delinquency. The kids eat food at the new hall. Boys attend a movie screening (sponsored by the PTA and the board of eduction) on human Birth and Growth. A lecturer points out parts of the human body in a skeleton diagram on the screen. The association sponsors dental examinations and a school lunch program for the school children. Elementary age school children receive hot food in a school lunch cafeteria line and sit together at tables eating lunch. A dentist examines the teeth of a child. A woman teaches drawing to children.
