U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield, Thailand. Lieutenant Colonel Joseph M Valenti, Commander of the 618th Military Airlift Support Squadron, is asked about U.S. Air Force Airlift operations. He is seated in an easy chair, with a photograph of a C-5 aircraft on the wall behind him. The Colonel speaks about the C-5 as part of the Air Force strategic airlift fleet comprising C-5s, C-141s and the CRAF (Civil Reserve Airlift Fleet). Asked about the impact of the C-5, he mentions the variety of military equipment it is capable of carrying worldwide. He mentions how C-5s and C-141 aircraft were able to move a complete U.S. Air Force Tactical Fighter Wing to Thailand in 9 days.He contrasts that to more than a month required for a similar move during the Korean war.

After successfully connecting it, he uses the aircraft refueling panel to direct fuel to the appropriate tanks. Another airman operates a mobile pump unit connected to an underground fuel tank. Hudner crash landed his own aircraft in an attempt to free Brown from his plane's wreckage, but he was unable to free him from the cockpit where Brown later died. Ensign Jesse Brown was the first African American pilot in the U.S. Navy, and the first U.S. Navy officer killed in the Korean War. Hudner was the first Medal of Honor recipient during the Korean War.

Airmen on the ground at Eniwitok Atoll (sometimes spelled Enewetak or Eniewetok), Marshall Islands, unload radioactive cargo from a drone B-17 aircraft, of the 509th Bombardment Group, that had flown through the cloud following the atomic Test Able explosion at Bikini Atoll, during Operation Crossroads. (The drone displays an atomic cloud Logo on its fuselage.) The airmen use an ingenious arrangement of cables to remotely position a container under the drone's bomb bay. Then using remote controls, they release cargo from the bomb bay into the container. They reposition the cables (running near the aircraft, to minimize personal exposure) and repeat the process with another container. A C-54 carrying the 509th Bombardment Group's Mushroom Cloud Logo, stands ready to transport the cargo.
