Shows General Pershing talking with a U.S. Major General, outside the building, as he prepares to enter his car. Later, he visits the unit's camp and poses with American and French officers.

Relates to the U.S. Antarctic expedition,Operation High Jump. Shows U.S. Navy fleet in Antarctica. A group of emperor penguins. Antics of the penguins. Sailors anchor the ships with "dead men" (sunk pylons). Aircraft, vehicles and equipment including Weasels, trucks, bulldiozers, are unloaded from the ships up to "Little America." Huskies carry sailors on sledges and sleds. Demolition team plant charges and clears the way ahead. Men build an airstrip on the ice for the landings of U.S. DC-3 (R4D) aircraft. Tracked caterpillars and bulldozer level the surface. The expedition team starts to settle in Antarctica.
Relates to the U.S. Antarctic expedition,Operation High Jump. Admiral Richard E. Byrd and his party ride Weasels visits an old buried U.S. base camp of "Little America" #1 and #2, from the 1930's on Antarctica. Captain Vernon Boyd of U.S. Marine Corps enters inside a ventilating hatch. Food and supplies preserved for several years beneath the ice are taken out. Admiral Byrd exits the hatch.
Relates to the U.S. Antarctic expedition,Operation High Jump. Shows a U.S. Navy fleet stuck in the ice in Antarctica at "Little America." Coast Guard Icebreaker Northwind and landing crafts break and loosen the ice. The fleet is freed and gets underway. Aircraft are prepared for exploration missions. Cameras including K17 models,film reels and other photographic apparatus are loaded aboard aircraft. Radar magnetic detectors are mounted on the plane to detect minerals under the ice. Aircraft takes off. Shows Admiral Richard E. Byrd aboard an aircraft flying above Antarctic glacier. He drops a boxed U.S. flag from the plane's window.
Shows U.S. Army transport ship Leviathan underway in harbor at Brest in France during World War I. U.S. Army troops debark the Leviathan ocean liner at the Port of Brest. Unloading of food and supplies at the port. Armed U.S. troops march. 306th Division troops of the 1st Army queue to board railroad train cars, bound for the war front. Sign on side of cars shows capacity of 36-40 men per train car, plus 8 horses. A steam locomotive surrounded in steam and smoke as it gets underway, leaving the railway train station with a long train filled with soldiers and horses.
