He speaks with ski troopers and examines red coverings they have fastened to the bottom of their skis. General Gobbi reviews maps on the hood of a vehicle. He then returns to the U.S. Army UH-1D helicopter that brought him to the site. It cranks up to depart.
A Norwegian (German-built) Leopard I tank in camouflage paint,and displaying the number, "21" on its turret, passes on a snow-packed road during maneuvers in NATO Exercise, "Arctic Express," Norway, 1970. It is followed by a US-built M-113 armored personnel carrier (APC) displaying "2C" on its side. Scene shifts to the APC heading uphill toward the camera. It pauses and then backs into a position. The Leopard tank also arrives and takes up a position. It rotates its turret. The APC is then seen maneuvering about in the vicinity and finally settling in a position. Camera focuses on a squad of NATO troops moving to new positions in the snow. One soldier, with an automatic rifle, stumbles as he rises from the snow. The squad, dressed in white outer gear,and carrying small arms, moves past the camera, and down the snowy hill.
