Lieutenant General Doolittle kicks off 8th Air Force War Bond Drive in England during World War II
Kickoff of U.S. 8th Air Force War Bond Drive at Wycombe Abbey, High Wycombe in England on July 29th 1944. Lieutenant General James Doolittle and several staff officers walk to a bandstand set up on a flatbed tractor trailer, where Major Glenn Miller and his Army Air Forces Band is seated. All come to attention as the General and staff ascend the platform. General Doolittle speaks about the good progress of the war and the need for supporting it with war bonds. He steps to a sales booth where he purchases a war bond from a Women's Army Corps (WAC) Corporal, in uniform .She asks him to sign their book of subscribers, which he does.General Doolittle then "sells" a bond to a Sergeant. Doolittle and his staff depart as the military band plays the Army Air Corps anthem.

The first Polar expedition, led by United States Navy Lieutenant Commander, Richard Evelyn Byrd (an attempt to fly an airplane over the North Pole). The first image seen is a Still photograph of U.S. Navy commodore Robert E. Peary, credited with reaching the North Pole, in 1909. He is seen in fur arctic gear. Next, Lieutenant Commander Richard E. Byrd, USN, is seen standing beside his expedition's Fokker F-VII Tri-motor monoplane, the "Josephine Ford." Byrd is dressed in a fur arctic parka similar to the one Peary was wearing. Next, the expedition's Pilot, Floyd Bennett, also poses beside the airplane, wearing his parka. They are preparing to attempt a flight over the North Pole, in 1926.

As U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Richard Byrd, and pilot Floyd Bennett step from their Fokker airplane upon their return from overflight of the North Pole, they are greeted and congratulated by Norwegian explorer, Ronald Amundsen and American Lincoln Ellsworth (who, themselves, are preparing to fly, from Spitsbergen, to the North Pole, and beyond, in the airship Norge). Members of the Byrd expedition team rush to greet the returning aviators and huddle about them expressing congratulations. They lift Byrd and Bennett up on their shoulders. Crewmen are gather and celebrate, aboard the SS Chantier, as a sailor who wouldn't shave until the mission was complete, gets his 34-day beard shaved off, as one of the sailors plays a ukulele.
