Snow plows used to open mountain passes in Sisters, Oregon. The Federal and State Highway Crew open roads for summer traffic. They work with dynamite and giant plows to open the roads. A machine drills through snow. A crew member places a dynamite stick in a hole.
Amelia Earhart and her crew take off from the U.S. Naval Air Station, Oakland, California, to begin their flight around the world. Views from another aircraft as their Lockheed Electra flies low over Western Span of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco, heading West toward the Pacific Ocean.
