Montage of several airplane crash sites in World War II, with Navy firefighters extinguishing flames in wreckage

Views of several different crash sites at U.S. Naval bases in World War 2. Firefighter in protective suit directs stream of foam on smoldering wreckage of what appears to be a crashed low wing single engine monoplane. Several sailors and an officer also help and are seen putting out the last remaining flames. An armed marine guard watches over destroyed parts of an engine, propeller and cowling sitting in a field. In change of scene, an officer directs a firefighter in protective gear as he hoses foam on the wreckage of a larger crashed aircraft. Shallow hole in ground is shown. Another scene shows sailors working around numerous pieces of aircraft wreckage laid out on the ground. Next sequence shows sailors running toward a smoking crash site.A vehicle with flag on it's bumper is parked nearby. Sailors direct hoses on the wreckage and smoke rises from it. Armed Marines walk about the area. The smoldering wreckage indicates this was a relatively small aircraft. In final scene, firefighters in protective gear, without helmets, direct hoses on another crash site. Flames persist.

U.S. Marines blow tree with C-4 explosive at Khe Sanh in Vietnam.

U.S. Marines of 1st Battalion, 26th Division, move through thick grass and climb up Hill 557, Khe Sanh, Vietnam. Arms include M-16 rifles and equipment includes PRC-25 back pack radio. U.S. Marines prepare a demolition charge of C-4 explosive, and insert fuse into the C-4 and place it along with other explosives at the base of a tree. Two Marines pull the pins on fuses of C-4, and smoke rises from the burning fuses. The resulting explosion destroys the tree. Marines return to the site with entrenching tool. (Vietnam War period).

St Louis Cardinals beat New York Yankees to win 1964 Baseball World Series

Newsreel clip entitled "Cards Trump Yanks," showing game 7 of baseball's 1964 World Series. Sportsman's Park in St. Louis filled to capacity. Cardinals score when in fourth inning when wild throw to first base brings home Ken Boyer. With Mel Stottlemyre pitching for Yankees, Cardinals pull a double steal, allowing Tim McCarver to score. Dal Maxvill drives in a run with single to right. Yankees great Mickey Mantle hits three-run homer in the sixth inning, cutting Cardinals lead to 6-3. Ken Boyer connects for homer in the seventh, making it 7-3. Yankees hit two home runs in the ninth but Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson bears down to get final out on popup by Bobby Richardson. Cardinals mob Gibson, celebrate the team's first World Championship since 1946.

The National League beats the American League in 1955 All-Star Baseball Game on Stan Musial's home run

Newsreel clip on baseball's 1955 All-Star Game in Milwaukee, hosting the game for the first time since the Braves moved there two years earlier. American League manager Al Lopez and National League manager Leo Durocher chat before the game. Baseball commissioner Ford Frick watches from stands. Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Robin Roberts starts game for the National League, throws wild pitch to allow first run. In the second inning, Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees hits a long home run to score himself, Nellie Fox of the Chicago White Sox and Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox, giving AL a 4-0 lead. But National League rallies in the eighth inning to tie the game. In extra innings, Stan Musial of the St. Louis Cardinals hits a sudden-death home run to right field to give the National League the victory. Musial rounds the bases and is congratulated at home plate by happy teammates, including Willie Mays (#24)
