U.S. Air Force A-1E aircraft operations against ground targets in Vietnam

Aerial view from forward camera in an American A-1E aircraft on a mission in Vietnam. The aircraft dives toward a cluster of buildings in the jungle, where smoke is rising. It pulls up and climbs. It also dives on two other locations where several buildings can be seen quite close because of the plane's low altitude. These may be strafing runs. But gun camera is not in use and no evidence of firing is seen from the forward camera recording the flight. (Note: The A1E aircraft on this mission is believed to be from the 1st Air Commando Squadron, operating out of Bien Hoa Air Base.) (Vietnam War period).

Aerial views of U.S. Air Force aircraft as it drops general-purpose bombs on riverbank huts and buildings during Vietnam War

views from tail camera of a U.S. Air Force A-1E aircraft bombing enemy targets along a river bank during the Vietnam war. Large explosions behind the aircraft raise clouds of brown smoke from general purpose bombs it has dropped. Scene shifts to flight above jungle canopy, transitioning to low pass over group of huts along a river. The aircraft seems to be on a strafing run, producing a moderate explosion at one building and a small one at another. The view again shows a jungle canopy below, followed by heavy smoke and some flames on the ground, as pilot flies over a river bank already under attack by A-1E aircraft. View as camera aircraft makes low pass over several huts along the river bank. (Note: The A1E aircraft on this mission is believed to be from the 1st Air Commando Squadron, operating out of Bien Hoa Air Base.)

The A-1E is flying at tree-top level. Simple structures are seen, occasionally, amongst the trees. Exploding White phosphorus bombs and fires erupting from napalm, seen in the wake of the aircraft. More huts seen as the aircraft exits the coconut plantation and passes over a river bank. Fires burning in the background. The A-1E climbs out over the river. (Note: The A1E aircraft on this mission is believed to be from the 1st Air Commando Squadron, operating out of Bien Hoa Air Base.)
