Activities of Eleanor Roosevelt in post-World War II period
December, 1945, former First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, now appointed by President Truman, as a delegate to the United Nations, is seen with other members of the U.S. Delegation. She is seen speaking while serving as chairman of the UN Committee Three, dealing with human rights. She recognizes the delegate from the Soviet Union, as the committee addresses issues of refugees. (The USSR insists that displaced persons be returned to their original homelands.) As chairman, Mrs. Roosevelt, rules a USSR proposal out of order, causing the USSR representatives to leave the room. A glimpse of Eleanor Roosevelt at a microphone during debate over the issue with the USSR, before the full General Assembly, where she successfully argues to allow refugees to make their own decisions about repratriation. She is seen sitting next to delegate,Senator Arthur Vandenburg, at the forum. Eleanor Roosevelt being greeted by U.S. Army officers as she steps from an airplane in Europe. She is seen mingling with persons in Europe, displaced by World War II. Back in the UN forum, she extols the International Declaration of Human Rights as an "International Magna Carta of men everywhere," and goes on to compare it with similar charters of history. She is seen at a Pan American World Airways terminal, preparing to board a flying boat (unseen). Several scenes show Eleanor Roosevelt visiting with people in various parts of the world, with particular attention to children. She speaks of her candid nature in a broadcast.

Reenactment of treatment for combat exhaustion cases among World War 2 U.S. soldiers. A vehicle of a medical unit arrives at a field hospital carrying a combat exahusted soldier at an aid station. Medical personnel soldiers carry the agitated, traumatized soldier from the vehicle to the tent of the aid station while he yells. Soldiers lay the traumatized soldier on a stretcher. They give medicine to him. They carry his stretcher away. They give soup to another soldier. An exhausted soldier comes into the tent for treatment. He takes off his bag. A medic asks the soldier his problem. He suggests that he take rest and eat food. The medic gives him medicine. The soldier picks his bags and move out with the medics who are holding a blanket and soup for the soldier. Another exhausted soldier arrives for treatment. A Red Cross soldier examines his hand. Actor Vic Morrow, who plays role of Sergeant Saunders on TV series, "Combat" speaks about his experience during his visit as a guest of the Commanding General at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning in Georgia. He speaks about famous Infantry units, beginning with the Rogers' Rangers during the French Indian War in 1756. Dramatized scenes with reenactors show the rangers running through a forest during the French And Indian War. They advance and snare a sleeping Native American Indian and then battle with a North American Indian tribe. Scenes of cobblers, blacksmiths, farmers and bookkeepers joining the army to fight against Britain during the American Revolution. They advance on the battlefield during the American Revolution.
