United States aircraft lands on United States Ship Langley while its is underway in the Pacific off the coast of California.
United States ship Langley underway as men on the deck signal flags. Men milling about and talking on the flight deck. A man talks to a pilot on the deck. Naval officers on the deck as they look seawards. Men along the edge of the aircraft carrier as a Vought VE-7SF aircraft comes in for landing. The aircraft floats with tail hook visible and then when the hook catches, the Aircraft noses over into the deck. Sailors run to assist the pilot and aircraft. Another Vought VE-7SF comes in for a landing. It appears successful, but at last moment, it too noses over, and then settles back in normal position. A third VE-7SF comes in for landing and spins sideways as the hook catches. Sailors run to assist the pilot.

Film showing early history of flight with many early unsuccessful flying machines. As Igor Sikorsky speaks, in the background, about such earlier failures, the first scene shows a early 1900s seven wing airplane, with its propeller turning, being pushed by several men. Suddenly the the entire thing collapses into a heap, as the men run to safety. They quickly return to check on the occupant. Next, an experimental four-rotor helicopter is seen lifting above the ground, successfully, but not otherwise controllable. Then a contraption (labeled "Sky Car") employs a pulsating umbrella. It jumps up and down but does not accomplish anything else. A tricycle gear contraption, using an array of sails, and displaying the number, 691, moves along under power, but does not ever leave the ground. A helicopter of sorts, with several different size rotors falls sideways, as the pilot is adjusting it. He steps away to safety. Another glimpse of the "Sky Car." A wing-flapping contraption that does nothing else. Aviation pioneer, Lawrence Sperry, moves his early biplane up to a gasoline pump to refuel. He holds the fuel hose to his gas tank while another man pumps the fuel. Next, his airplane taxis along a public road, followed by a motorcyclist. The aircraft takes off. Sperry piloting his small single-place bi-plane "Messenger" aircraft, is seen flying above the U.S. Capitol dome, on March 22, 1922. Next, he lands on the Capitol Plaza and quickly turns the aircraft so it actually ascends several Capitol steps, before rolling back to park. Sperry climbs from the cockpit and is greeted by policemen and officials who surround him and congratulate him. (Sperry perished flying across the English Channel in 1924.) He speaks of beginning the aeronautical engineering education program at MIT in 1913, with Donald Douglas as an assistant.

Chauffeur enters at left door and slides across seat to right-side steering wheel. Lincoln chauffeured limousine passes and parks in front of a Model T. May 1927, men assemble the body onto the 15 millionth Model T car, and it drives away with Henry Ford as passenger. Old Ford cars brought into plant where they are seen being crushed and scrapped, and their steel recycled into new cars.

The Rise of Japanese militarism in the 20th Century
Film opens showing reenactment of Japanese attack ostensibly against Formosa, in 1894. Japanese troops and artillery are shown. The event is depicted in a critical political cartoon. Next, Japanese Admiral Heihachiro Togo is seen in 1904, standing with other naval officers. Then, Japanese warships are shown, firing barrages of naval gunfire at the Russian fleet in Port Arthur, Manchuria. Huge black clouds arise from burning ships. Scenes of Japanese people celebrating their naval victory. Date shifts to 1910. Cartoon depicts Japanese annexation of Korea. Cartoon illustrates Japanese actions in World War I when, siding with the Allies, Japan acquired the German-held Shandong (Shantung) Peninsula of China, as well as German-held Marianas, Carolines, and Marshalls islands in the Pacific. Japanese representatives are seen participating in Post World War 1 international activities. They signed the so-called Five-Power,Four-Power, and Nine-Power treaties, and participated in the League of Nations. Glimpse of two Japanese officers, followed by cartoon depiction of the Mariana, Caroline, and Marshall Islands, that Japan insisted on keeping. Cartoon shows them being fortified. A Japanese military marching band parades down a city street while being cheered by spectators on the sidewalks. Next, Japanese military General, Baron Tanaka Giichi, is seen in uniform with other officers. Cartoon illustrates the so-called Tanaka Memorial document that Baron Tanaka allegedly presented to the Emperor, in 1927, outlining a strategy to conquer the world. Cartoon then illustrates plan of conquest by acquiring Chinese manpower; Manchurian iron and coal; Siberian timber, coal, wheat, and metals; Tin,oil and rubber from Malaysia and the East Indies. The United States is shown as the last conquest. Views of ordinary farm and factory activities in the U.S. Cars parked in the Ford Motor Company factory lot. Japanese officials and legislators meeting in the Diet (Parliament). Japanese theater-goers and a Japanese woman singing with an American-style band, are shown as examples of activities the Japanese Government sought to discourage. A Japanese female ensemble in traditional dress, playing traditional instruments, is shown as more desirable. Western dancing and movies are shown and narrator states they were forbidden. Japese movie scene depicts ancient martial arts. A musical production displays German swastika flag and that of the Kingdom of Italy. Japanese men are shown playing the ancient game of Chu Shogi, instead of playing Western card games. People are shown in a library, where Western books are replaced by more militaristic tomes, such as: "If we fight" by Admiral Shinsaku Hirata, March 15, 1930 (shown on film slate). Slate goes on to quote about attack on Hawaii as the first battle in war of the Pacific. Film cites another approved Japanese publication: "Arguments Against American Policies" by Kawashima Seichiro, Christmas Day, 1924. It discusses distruction of the American fleet and subsequent landing on the U.S. West Coast.
Resident-General of Morocco, General Alphonse Juin, arrives in Casablanca aboard French Cruiser Georges Leygues
View of French Cruiser Georges Leygues in harbor of Casablanca, Morocco. A launch carries new Resident-General Alphonse Juin to the shore, where he is greeted by honor guard of French sailors. He greets a civilian woman and man dressed in formal attire and samples food proffered by Moroccans. General Juin then rides along a road in an open automobile, accompanied by Moroccan troops on horseback, while spectators watch and applaud from the roadside. Accompanied by French officers in white uniforms, he participates in a wreath laying at the Monument commemorating Moroccan units that served with the French during World War I. (The monument, by sculptor Landowski, erected in 1924, depicts a French Poilu and a Moroccan Spahi, both on horseback, shaking hands.) The General's car and entourage then proceed to the courtyard of the Royal Palace, where General Juin is escorted by Moroccan officials, while a Moroccan military band plays. He enters the Palace and has an audience with the Sultan of Morocco. A Short, unrelated scene at the end of the clip shows Crown Prince Amir Saud of Saudi Arabia, and two members of his royal party, stepping from a car, and entering a building during a 1947 visit to the United States.
