Needy and poor children from poor and low income homes in Detroit romp and play at "Fresh Air Camp", a summer camp in Sylvan Lake, outside Detroit, Michigan, during the Great Depression. The camp was established by the Detroit Free Press newspaper. (The Sylvan Lake Community Center is now on the site.) Boys and girls run out of a main camp building, possibly the dining hall. Group of boys walking past camp buildings including sleeping cabins. The children wait in line for food at an outdoor eating or mess area. They smile and drink milk from glass bottles. Needy children play on a playground and enjoy swing sets. They run into the water of Sylvan Lake and splash and enjoy swimming in the water. Children gathered around a flag pole with the American flag on it for a flag lowering ceremony.
Inaugural celebrations on Los Angeles' 150th birthday in Los Angeles, California. Parade event on city streets opens with the 'Epic of Transportation' depicting history of travel from primitive to modern times. Procession starts with a man on horseback drawing a primitive carriage with two children sitting on it. A buffalo cart. A carriage drawn by a mule team. Depiction of train and aircraft during the procession.
200 set of twins aged between 9 months to 90 years compete in 'Doubles tourney' in Albany, New York. Number of twin children, women, old men, toddlers, young girls and boys dressed alike for the competition. All the twins vie for prizes. Various twins are shown together posing for the camera. Two elderly men are among them, one of whom wears what appears to be a Civil War veteran's medal on his lapel.
