World War II film intended to encourage American civilians (especially women) to participate in the home front war efforts.
Mix of actual World War 2 footage scenes outside the United States, and dramatized war scenes inside the U.S. Narrator speaks as a U.S. soldier writes a letter to his mother at home, in which he contrasts the hardships of war torn countries and peoples with the relative safety and lack of suffering of the U.S. population during World War 2. Opening scene shows typical American women riding in a bus. One woman, ostensibly the soldier's mother, climbs aboard a bus as another woman steps out of it. A woman visits a friend who says she had to give up her Red Cross work because it didn't leave her time to get her hair done each week. A group of women at a garden party bridge club. Narrator says one of them could not work at a USO canteen because it conflicted with her bridge party. A woman lounging in a garden chair, is claimed to avoid a war job because they are all boring and dirty. A maid serves some hard to obtain foods to two woman at lunch. The hostess accused of obtaining them on the black market. The scene shifts to the letter writing son serving with the army in Europe. He relates taking a village recently, and the film shows residents cheering as the American soldiers occupy it. Fire fighters direct streams of water on burning wrecked buildings. Refugees fleeing their homes. Several nuns helping some as they evacuate. shells striking as refugees travel. Populations fleeing and refugee citizens leaving as invading forces come, in Russia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, France and France. View of people running for shelter in China. At this point, the film shows the chaos in those countries superimposed on America, where fires are being fought, and ambulances respond to help injured. A woman picks up her child as she and others run, looking skyward with dread. Air raid sirens sound in the background. A British soldier looks over a scene where Asian people are evacuating from war torn homes. A group of despairing European people. The film creates an imaginary image of and ordinary American woman digging through the rubble of her destroyed home. American women lined up, in front of bomb damaged buildings, to receive one egg a month. Other American civilians lined up to receive a ration of potatoes. Women in England are seen shoveling rubble from the remains of their homes after a blitz bombing by the German Luftwaffe. In Russia many women are seen digging and performing manual labor which the narrator says is labor forced by invading forces (possible slave labor forced by Nazi German forces). Women in Greece clearing rubble. Again, film creates imaginary view of Americans clearing rubble from their destroyed houses and evacuating en masse. Two American women comforting another in front of her burning home. More views of Americans in mass evacuation, carrying their belonging with them. Narrator states children are evacuated first and them film shows scenes of English children being sent to safety on buses. View of Russians evacuating in horse-drawn carts. Imaginary transition to Americans evacuating known local places. Chinese evacuating across a bridge, assisted by British soldiers. More imaginary scenes of Americans evacuating. A soldier writing a letter and then packing up his gear to move on with members of his army unit. They line up in formation and then march. Imaginary view of American women marching side by side with them. Glimpse of large formation of uniformed nurses marching. Last scene is of American flag superimposed on marchers.

London "Carpetbaggers" personnel working at the London headquarters of United States Army Air Forces 8th Air Force. At Harrington field men load supplies on trucks for French resistance forces (Maquis, FFI). Men workout the daily packing schedule. Men pack guns, grenades, machine guns and other ammunitions. Special H containers and C containers for loading 303 ammunition. Boots, socks being packed. Gasoline Jerry cans being put in containers. Men place guns in containers. Instructions in French also placed with the supplies for the French resistance forces. Men pack explosives and radio sets. Medical supplies put in baskets. Harness and parachute shops in Holmes where men attach parachutes to containers. Packages being transported to airfield for dropping to the targets. A man on a telephone informs about the daily supplies to Special Forces headquarters in London. S-2, an intelligence officer forwards the list received from London. A man plots the target area on a map. In the weather room detailed map of the area is being prepared. Officers make a selection of the targets. S-2 informs the headquarters about the route of the planes. Supplies being loaded onto United States B-24 aircraft specially configured to carry and drop the containers using the bomb rack system in the aircraft. Flight crew is briefed before the operation. Chief Navigator talks about the course to be taken by the planes and the targets to be hit. Pilots work on a flight plan. Aircraft take off. An officer reports about the take off of the aircraft to the 8th Air Force headquarters.

U.S. bomber aircraft sinks German Capitol ship, Ostfriesland under the command of General Billy Mitchell. 1000 pound bombs strike near the battleship, Ostfriesland. Direct hits on the ship. American Destroyer USS Shawmut gives signal to cease bombing. USS Shawmut underway in sea. Heavy smoke rises from funnel. U.S. Navy C-2 blimp or airship dirigible flies over the Ostfriesland and the Shawmut. U.S. Navy C-2 blimp in the air. Boarding party climbs aboard the "Ostfriesland". Scenes taken from navy blimp as it flies slowly over the bombed battleship. General Mitchell, pilot, and Captain Saint C1air Street come down to note the effect of the bombs. On November 2, 1940, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt and party visit P-39 aircraft production line at the Bell Aircraft Company factory, 2050 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, New York, and P-40 production lines at the Curtiss Aeroplane factory, 2303 Kenmore Avenue, Buffalo, NY. Workers in the Bell plant pose around and inside fuselages taking shape along a production line for Bell P-39 Airacobra airplanes. In the Curtiss plant, view from rear, of Secret Service agent in coat and hat, standing on running board of an open Packard motor car carrying President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and his party as they drive slowly along an aisle in the factory, showing P-40 aircraft in various stages of completion. The President is barely visible in the back seat. (This is a 1939 Packard twelve, model 1708, special parade car, built for the President's use.) View from ahead of the President's car, as it proceeds along the Curtiss P-40 production line. (The President, in coat and hat, sits in the right rear seat.) As they progress along the production line, the aircraft seen are increasingly more complete. At the Bell plant, the motorocade passes a fully assembled P-39 on display. The President holds a desk model of the plane. The American flag and Presidential flag are displayed on the front of the car. The president is now seen without his hat. The car moves into a section of one of the factories that fabricates wing assemblies and other smaller parts. Closeup front view of the President and party as the car begins to exit the Bell factory on Elmwood Avenue. The building has "Bell Aircraft Corp." written on it. Employees are lined up outside the plant and applaud the President. [Note: There is a possibility that some scenes may be from other Buffalo-area aircraft factories that started production in 1942, including the Bell Plant in Wheatfield, NY (Niagara Falls) and the Curtiss Plant #2 at the Buffalo Airport.]
