Task Force 8, on Mission Number VI, the first U.S. offensive naval action of World War 2,against Japanese forces in the Pacific, conducted during January and February, 1942. This film was taken from the heavy cruiser, USS Northhampton, CA-26, of the Task Force en route to attack Japanese positions in the Marshall Islands of Wotje, Taroa and Maloelap. It begins with close-in portside view of the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise, Admiral Halsey's Flagship, underway, followed by a distant starboard view of the Enterprise. The USS Enterprise, CV-6, is seen preparing to launch air strikes.
