Two-man Security team checkout M-16 rifle and sidearm weapons from issuing window, and head out on their assigned patrol. During period of semidarkness, at dusk, blinking red lights are seen. Then an aircraft is silhouetted low over the runway. It proceeds slowly, only a few feet above the runway, and then crashes in a spectacular ball of flames, followed by a huge cloud of black smoke. (Note: The aircraft, an F-100 Supersabre was being ferried from Palmdale, California, when the pilot elected to make an emergency landing at Edwards AFB.)

Aviation cadets file into a dining hall. Each one takes a tray (in a military manner) from a stack and proceeds to the serving line. View of one table of cadets who stand at attention until all have arrived and placed their trays at their places. They all seat themselves in unison and begin eating so-called "square meals" (in a military manner). A cadet colonel at the table reminds some of the cadets about this.
