Officials place wreath at plaque honoring Haym Salomon in Mikveh Israel Cemetery. They then salute. One elderly Civil War veteran is among them. A man reads from a piece of paper in hand. Inscription on the plaque honoring Haym Salomon is shown up close.
Captain James A Mollison during the World's First 2 way Transatlantic Hop. Captain Mollison boards his small Puss Moth airplane for his return trip from Mineola, New York.. He shows his 10 shilling note before boarding the airplane. The aircraft taxis and takes off from a runway.
National Air Race in Cleveland, Ohio. Open Stadium is packed with spectators. Al Wilson dons his flying helmet and flies a Curtiss Pusher replica, performing aerobatics, including an inside loop. Glider pilot Jack O'Meara performs for the crowd, landing in the grass and smiling for the camera. (Note: Flier Al Wilson was killed later during these same Cleveland aviation events, when his 1910 Curtiss plane collided with an autogyro during landing.)
Amelia Earhart seen in leather flight coat, dons leather helmet and goggles for a photograph. She poses with Pilot Wilmer Stultz and flight mechanic, Louis Gordon. At daybreak the adventurers row towards Fokker F. VII b-3 tri-motored seaplane, and board for their first leg of transatlantic flight (to Trespassey, New Foundland). Their seaplane, named "Friendship," takes off and buzzes the port as they depart from Boston, Massachusetts. (Note: the Fokker seaplane was initially built for the Byrd Antarctic Expedition.)
