At start, the film shows Vice Admiral Marc Mitscher, Commander of U.S. Navy Task Force 58, on the bridge of the Yorktown, his Flagship. With him is his Chief of Staff, Captain Arleigh Burke. A sailor approaches, salutes, and presents a document on a clip board which the Admiral signs. The sailor salutes and leaves. Several closeups of Admiral Mitchner looking through binoculars.
