Next scene shows cars racing in the 1941 Indianpolis 500 race, driving on the track at great speed. Spectators watch the thrilling race. One of the drivers is severely hurt in an accident. Mauri Rose of Indianapolis teamed with Floyd Davis of Illinois win the Speedway Classic.
Crane lifts smashed aircraft engines (Pratt and Whitney R-1340-10) following crash of the first aircraft assigned to the Coast Guard Air Station, St. Petersburg, Florida. The aircraft bears the identification: Coast Guard 131. It is a Douglas RD-4 Dolphin amphibian named Mizar.The fuselage (missing empennage) is lifted by crane and guided by coast guardsmen. Later, the wing is moved separately by crane, along the pier.
