Douglas engineers walk along beside the B-19 aircraft as it is being towed. U.S. Army Air Forces test pilot, Major Stanley M. Umstead, stands with a Douglas Aircraft Company executive, in front of the XB-19 wheel. A mechanic is seen on an engine nacelle, looking down over the propeller.The XB-19 is towed into position. Several citizens line up and learn how to discharge ordinary fire extinguishers, such as found in public buildings, like schools. Volunteers experience what it is like to wear protective firefighting gear. With help from a Fire Department Officer (in white cap) several volunteers try to control a high pressure hose and direct water onto a pile of debris set up for the occasion. (World War II period).
