A squad of soldiers leaves their trench and moves forward.They march single-file across the sand, and pause to fix bayonets on their weapons, before charging across the terrain. They dive down into prone positions, near a dead German soldier. Shells from German artillery fire explode close in front of them.One shell almost strikes them. They continue to advance with shells bursting all around them.

A presidential motorcade moves along the street, as spectators watch from crowded sidewalks. A band can be heard playing "Hail to the Chief." Scene shifts to another street, where the motorcade is headed by a formation of motorcycle policemen. Crowds greet the passing President, enthusiastically. The President remarks briefly, from his car, thanking his supporters and says he hopes to see much of them in the next four years. More scene of the motorcade on streets of the Capital. They stop again and the President expresses pleasure at being back with his neighbors, noting he had been coming to Washington, DC since he was five years old. He extols the virtues of the Nation's Capital.
