Troops occupy defensive entrenched positions, and come under sniper fire, as the choppers depart. One soldier radios for air support. U.S. fighter bombers dive down to strafe the VC positions. Later, the troops are seen walking toward a village nearby. Taking up positions near a line of trees, American soldiers fire automatic weapons against retreating Viet Cong rear guards. Views of the U.S. troops entering the village, where several women and children stand near their thatched roofed huts. The soldiers assemble the villagers (men, women, and children) and escort them to helicopters, waiting to transport them to safer areas. Heavy explosions and fires on the base. Fires started from secondary blasts by bombs and fuel. Aircraft destroyed included F-4 Phantom II's & C-130's. The U.S Marine Corps Fighter Squadron VMF (AW) 232, also based here, lost some of its F-8E Crusader aircraft in this attack. (Vietnam War period).
