Activities of U.S.airmen in 323rd Bomb Group, at Denain Airbase (A-83) near end of World War II.

A number of Martin B-26 Marauder aircraft of 323rd Bombardment Group (9th Air Force) are lined up for takeoff. As they taxi past camera, tail number of one: 43-34344, is visible. All aircraft display the distinctive White Tail identifying the 323rd BG. (The Group is known to some as Wood's Rocket Raiders, so-named for their Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Wilson r. Wood.) The location is Denain Airfield (A-83), near the City of Valenciennes, France. The time is April, 7,1945, a month before VE Day. Several airmen are pitching horseshoes, while others watch. They use a shoe to measure how close one came to the pin. Two airment use a two-man saw to saw a timber while a third sits on it to hold it still.

Americans are seen celebrating the good news in the streets of downtown, Manhattan, New York City. Interview with liberated female internee Georgette Kramer from the Los Banos camp in Manila, World War 2

Interview in Manila with freed female internee Georgette Kramer from the Japanese operated Los BaƱos internment camp (liberated 13 days before the interview). A microphone is set on a tripod stand for the interview. Ms. Kramer relates how she was wounded by a stray Japanese bullet during the February 23, 1945 liberation operation. During the firefight with Allied forces a bullet went through her mother's arm, through Ms. Kramer's abdominal wall, and into her friend's hand. Wounded, they were rushed to a tank. She says one other internee was also shot through the hip. When asked what she wants to do now that she is free she says she is not sure. A young girl, Ms. Kramer's sister, Aoife Kramer, runs up to the camera and says she wants to say something too. The interviewer lifts up the child in his arms. The girl says she wants to go to the United States. (World War II period).
