Austro-Hungarian officers under the command of General Eduard Freiherr von Bohm-Ermolli enter the city after recapturing Lemberg (aka Lviv) in Galicia (the part now in Ukraine) from the Russians in World War 1. Citizens line the sidewalks to watch as a motorcade of Austrian officers, in open staff cars, drive into the city. Soldiers are posted along the street,to maintain order, but several bystanders still manage to run into the street to throw flowers to the passing cars. Monsignor Count Andrew Sheptytzkyj (aka Andrey Sheptytsky) the Archbishop Metropolite of the Uniate Greek Catholic Church, is seen in the midst of a group of senior Austro-Hungarian officers.
