People at a German train station examine railroad torn up and twisted, apparently by an explosion (possibly sabotage?), during World War 1. Damage is confined to the railroad, itself, and a train that has been blown over,on its side, nearby . (The station and buildings are undamaged.) Curious onlookers stand around the damaged tracks and many stand on an embankment overlooking the overturned train. Workmen examine the damage to the train. Several policemen appear busy at the road entrance to the train station. One has a bicycle.
Opening slate says "How the Russian troops are turning the Turkish flank." World War 1 footage shows Russian forces on a snowy plain in the Caucasus Mountains region between Europe and Asia. The Russian troops march in the snow and mud in a column and through snow covered areas. Turkish prisoners of war are seen in a town town and marching along a path in the snow. Armed Russian soldiers are seen near the prisoners. Russian troops place supplies in a snow sled. They are seen transporting soldiers and supplies in ox carts and sledge drawn by cattle. Bactrian camels that are able to withstand the extreme cold are seen transporting gear. The Russian forces move a herd of camels through a village and up a steep mountain road.
At a U.S. Army training facility in the United States, Cavalry troops load and fire artillery. Soldier places hands over his ears as artillery pieces are fired across a practice range.

The crew assembled in uniforms, wearing patent leather shoes taken from a captured ship. The SS Crown Prince Wilhelm is interned in the then neutral USA during WWI.
Dr. Konstantin Theodor Dumba, Austro-Hungarian Ambassador to the United States USA, exits a row house and tips his hat toward the camera. Dr. Dumba was expelled from the USA during WWI after having been accused of espionage.
