U.S. Aircraft Carrier, USS Midway (CVB-41). Activity on flight deck which is crowded with North American AJ (A-2) Savage twin engine prop aircraft. Also seen are an F9F Panther and an F2H-3B jet. An F2H jet is set on a catapult. (It has number 57 painted on nose and XC on its tail.) Flight Deck Crew members surround the aircraft. Under deck crew direction, the nose of aircraft is raised to an elevated attitude. Deck crew clears away from the aircraft, launch officer signals, and the F2H-3B aircraft catapults from the ship's deck.

Others with readable numbers are 41-2611, 41-2632, 41-2648, and 41-2437. Suddenly, several Japanese aircraft are seen in loose trail formation overhead. Marine fires machine gun from a defensive position. Black flak clouds form from exploding U.S. antiaircraft rounds. One Japanese aircraft falls burning toward the sea. Several U.S. Marine Chance-Vought SB2U Vindicator aircraft take off to engage the Japanese bombers. The U.S. aircraft maneuvering overhead. More machine gun fire from defenders on Midway. A bomb explodes close to the camera, sending debris flying. More machine gun fire, and another bomb strikes near the shoreline with a huge explosion. Explosions on other areas of Midway. A hangar burning. Another bomb strike close to the camera. Marines running past burning and destroyed aircraft, and raising the American flag, as fires burned and the bombing continued.

Two AJ Savage airplanes land successively on the flight deck of USS Midway (CVB-41) aircraft Carrier in the Atlantic. F2H-3B plane lands and right tire blows out. Following F2H-3B has to execute go-around. It lands after the first F2H is cleared from the deck. An AJ Savage on final approach is waved off and goes around. It makes a somewhat rough landing.
