During a training program the sailors of the British Navy are taught three defense methods against an attacker armed with a knife. Two sailors demonstrate the methods. A navy officer and other sailors observe. The sailor who poses as the opponent moves forward with a knife in his right hand. The second sailor brings his left arm forward to protect himself. In the second case the opponent moves forward again passing the knife from one hand to another. The sailor removes his helmet and uses it as a shield. To demonstrate the third way, the opponent again approaches with the knife raised in his hand. The sailor uses the edge of his arm to protect himself and delivers a chin jab. (World War II period).
