Sailors taught methods of attack and counterattack during a navy training program in the United States. Two sailors demonstrate the hip lock. Both the sailors attack each other from the front. The attacker grasps the second sailor at the chest. The second sailor secures the right arm of the attacker beneath his left one and grasps his left elbow with his own right hand. He brings his left leg in front of the attacker and bends which causes both to fall. Next they demonstrate reverse hip lock. The second sailor passes his right arm beneath the left shoulder of the attacker and uses his left arm to grasp the right upper arm of the attacker. He brings his right foot forward, bends a little and hauls the attacker. (World War II period).
