Opening scene shows injured soldiers in World War 1 being transferred to a field hospital. Next scene, in the United States, shows disabled and injured veterans of World War 1, and recovering soldier veterans, as they exit railroad hospital trains at a train station, and are met by medical staff of Fort Sheridan, in Lake County, Illinois. Women offer the soldiers donuts from baskets. Veterans get into waiting ambulances.
