Protestant missionary bring Christianity, education and medical aid to illiterate Pagan tribes in Bakubaland, Belgian Congo. Tribal warriors out side huts in a village, they move in the jungle to stop Dr Washburn, a missionary. Men carry Dr H M Washburn in a palanquin being stopped by warriors carrying weapons. Washburn convinces them and is allowed to enter the village. Washburn visits other villages. He gives salt to a tribal boy and he licks the salt signifying bond of friendship. Washburn sit on a carpet laid out on the ground as tribal chiefs offer gifts to accept his friendship.
