American military casualties of World War II concluding their emotional and mental medical treatment in Brentwood, New York. Some patients playing baseball in an open field on the grounds of the Mason General Hospital. The patients have recovered and now it is the time for their discharge. Flashback scenes show soldiers suffering stress, anxiety, and other symptoms related to war time service (Post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD, in contemporary terms.) An officer addresses all the patients, dressed in military uniform. A group of nurses standing. A bus carrying all the recovered patients leaves. The patients in the bus wave and say goodbye to all the doctors and the nurses, following conclusion of post-trauma stress therapy.
