Russian infantry are assembled in an open field, during World War 1. They maneuver their rifles from sling arms to parade rest and then to weapons at the ready position, in response to commands from officers (unseen). Next, they march in loose formation over rough ground, with their field gear and rifles. Russian General Grand Duke Nicholas and Emperor of Russia Nicholas II are seen conversing on a parade field. Russian cavalry unit cross a bridge, on horseback. At this point, the scene changes completely to the United Kingdom, showing a formation of British Royal Guards in formal dress uniform, including fur hats. They carry their rifles, with fixed bayonets, at left shoulder arms, and "slow march" across the parade grounds.
