Training film showing different kinds of rebreather (or Oxygen Breathing Apparatus) used in mine rescues. Models show four types of rebreathers approved by the United States Bureau of Mines- Paul, Gibbs, Fleuss-Davis, and MC CAA. A man points to different parts of the rebreather- such as an oxygen bottle, reducing valve, regenerator, and by-pass valve. Men pump oxygen bottles before using the Oxygen Breathing Apparatus. An oxygen bottle is installed in Oxygen Breathing Apparatus. Men charge the regenerator with chemicals to absorb carbon dioxide from exhaling, places regenerator back to the Oxygen Breathing Apparatus. Man disinfects Oxygen Breathing Apparatus mouthpiece and tubes in a solution of bichloride of mercury or Lysol. Man rinses disinfected tubes with water before installing them back to the apparatus.
