German and Italian prisoners of war (POW), captured by the First Special Service Force (FSSF, or sometimes referred to as SSF or "The Devil's Brigade") (elite joint American-Canadian commando unit) during their attack at Cisterna, Italy, in World War II, are seen gathered in a compound with a bomb-damaged building in the background. An American guard holding a rifle escorts more prisoners along a highway towards the compound. Prisoners in both shots appear fatigued, some showing visible injuries with leg, arm, and head bandages. In a final scene, two seated prisoners rest; one has an injured leg and smokes a cigarette.
