Start of Korean War. South Korea is attacked by Communist North Korea. Map shows division of Korea and capital of North and South Korea as Pyongyang and Seoul. Animated arrows shows attack of North Korea to South Korea. Troops of Korean Republican Army in the South mobilizing in citiies and heading to the front. South Korean soldiers fire rifles and artillery from trenches and hills. Smoke is seen among mountain ranges during battle. Soldier looks through binoculars. Next scene is in the United States, in Lake Success, New York, where guards at the United Nations simultaneously raise flags of many nations at the United Nations. South Korean ambassador Chang Myon is seen at an Emergency meeting of the Security Council of the UN. Secretary of UN, Trygve Lie states the situation is a as threat to world peace and calls for acceptance of the U.S. demand to reestablish peace. All 9 members present raise their hands in acceptance. Next scene is back in South Korea. Scenes of displaced civilian refugees including women and children. Many are gathered together. Man helps old woman to walk. Two Korean refugee boys stand side by side as one child eats bread. Next scene is again at the United Nations. Empty seat of representative of the Soviet Union is shown. U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Warren Austin, speaks and asks that the UN members vote to to assist South Korea, repel the armed attack by North Korea, and bring peace. Camera shows Security Council delegates voting, as 7 out of 8 representatives raise their hands in acceptance.

A U.S. Patton tank is seen next, followed by another. Closeup of treads on a Patton tank, raising dust as it passes. Another Patton heading toward the camera, with a crewman waving. A Cessna L-19 Bird Dog, aircraft, marked with three stars, arrives, carrying the new Commander of the Eight Army, Lieutenant General James Van Fleet. He climbs out of the airplane and shakes hands with a Brigadier General. Standing behind him is Air Force Lieutenant General Earle E. Partridge, commander of the 5th Air Force. A jeep carrying General Van Fleet turns in from a dirt road. A sign reads "56th Regiment, Message Center." Lieutenant General Van Fleet, climbs out of the front right seat of the jeep. He is wearing a pair of pearl handled side arms. U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Partridge is seated in the back seat of the jeep and jumps out behind Van Fleet. View of explosion in distant hills, part of the initial barrage in advance of the next United Nations offensive. Sounds of aircraft and artillery are heard. American infantry are seen moving forward. Narrator notes that numerous Chinese troops were in the hills around the Chosin reservoir and they were committed in vast numbers against the UN forces. UN infantry moving through forests and mist. large numbers of Chinese prisoners of war are seen walking along a dirt road.

On 8th February UN forces cross over Han river and reach the south of Seoul. Activities of 10th Marine Corps on the central front of the war. Counter offensive launched by the Chinese across the 38th Parallel on 11th February. The position of UN forces after 18th February.
UN landings at Inchon and reoccupation of the capital, Seoul, by UN forces during the first year of the Korean war.

On September 15, 1950, U.S. troops are seen landing at Incheon, from boats of the attack transport ship, USS Noble (APA-218). Return to the animated map shows advance of UN forces from Inchon joining with those advancing from Pusan, until they occupy most of the area south of the 38th parallel. UN infantry are seen engaged in urban combat in the city of Seoul, accompanied by M26 Pershing tanks and M46 Patton tanks. Building burning in the city. UN forces distributing rice and clothing to the Korean inhabitants of Seoul. Soldiers helping little Korean children don clothing. Bodies of men, women, and children who were slain by retreating enemy troops, are laid out on the ground, attended by Grieving relatives. Large quantities of captured North Korean weapons are piled up, including those made in the Soviet Union.
