In his address from Hawaii, United States he terms the German surrender as the end of Hitlerism and victory of freedom loving people. He also states the importance to maintain peace in post war times.

Simpson, Commanding General of the U.S. Ninth Army in Western Europe, arrives by jeep and talks at length individually to several soldiers of the U.S. 35th Infantry Division (attached to the British 21st Army Group).
