Activity on the island of Iwo Jima after it's capture in World War II
An injured U.S. soldier on a stretcher is loaded into a medical vehicle. A Douglas R4D-8 transport aircraft taxies on a runway in Iwo Jima, while U.S. Marines walk by and watch. Five Marines, all in arm slings, walk past the R4D-8. A few men on stretchers are brought into a building, and another man, smoking a cigarette, is moved on a stretcher into the back of a small vehicle. Another man with an injured hand is moved into a small vehicle on a stretcher. A World War 2 medical transport truck drives off, and the camera gives a closeup of the red cross symbol on the truck.

Then it switches to a shot of a few U.S. Marines stepping onto a bus, while one woman (possibly Kendeigh) and a few other soldiers stand on the porch of a building beside the bus. Injured Marines on stretchers are seen being carried to a Douglas R4D transport aircraft, before a closeup shot of more soldiers on stretchers lying on the ground. Then Jane Kendeigh, the first Navy flight nurse to land in an active Pacific combat zone, is seen speaking to one of the men on the ground. A few soldiers are seen being moved into another R4D transport plane, with Kendeigh watching. Then, a closeup shot of Kendeigh and another Marine examining something on a clipboard, before another stretcher is loaded onto the plane. He is laid down in a row next to other injured soldiers on stretchers, before they are lifted, one by one, into the aircraft. A sign that reads, "Hairless Joe" is posted on the inside of the aircraft loading door. The Douglas R4D is then seen taking off.

A Douglas R4D transport aircraft (number 245 seen on fuselage) takes off during World War 2. Jane Kendeigh, the first Navy flight nurse to land in an active Pacific combat zone, and a few U.S. Marines are inside a Douglas R4D airplane in flight, speaking to one another and taking care of injured soldiers that are lying on stretchers and beds throughout the aircraft. Kendeigh is seen next to a few loaves of bread and a plate of meat, making sandwiches. The cockpit of the airplane is shown, with its pilots speaking to one another. An injured Marine on a bed is offered something out of a bowl, and another is seen with his hand on his forehead, presumably sleeping.
