Attorneys Robert Kenny and Bartley Crum pursue motion to quash subpoenas, to appear before the HUAC, for clients John Howard Lawson and 18 other witnesses, on grounds of Committee illegality and unconstitutionality. Mr. Stripling of the Committee suggests pursuing the matter through the Courts. The attorneys appeal and the subcommittee exits to consider the matter in closed executive session. They return and announce unanimous decision to reject the request, on grounds that they are operating under Public Law 601 and have not the authority to deviate from their charter under that law. The attorneys then request that previous witnesses, whom they accuse of giving false testimony, be recalled. The motion is denied and John Howard Lawson is called to testify.
