The shooting of President John Kennedy in Dallas, Texas is announced to a gathering at the Dallas Trade Mart.
A man stands at a lectern bearing the Presidential seal and announces the news of the John F. Kennedy shooting at the Dallas Trade Mart gathering, saying "The motorcade has been shot." He says "we will tell you as much as we know, as soon as we know anything." Another man comes to the microphone to lead a prayer. All present stand up and pray. People depart after the prayer. (President Kennedy had been scheduled to speak at a luncheon at the Trade Mart at 12:15pm that day. He was en route to the Trade Mart when he was assassinated.)

He is being honored by the city in the auditorium of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (1001 W Walnut St, Independence, MO 64050, United States). President Truman addresses the gathering during this first trip back to his home area since becoming President. The President exits after speech. U.S. flags on the building. The President gets into his car. Photographers rush to take pictures. Views of the exterior of the Westport Men's Wear clothing store in Kansas City, owned by President Truman's lifelong friend, Edward "Eddie" Jacobson. Secret Service mill about the entrance while the President is inside. A sign above the store sign reads 'Arrow shirts." The President and his party exit the store and reenter his parked convertible.
French General Charles de Gaulle is feted in Chicago during his visit to the United States in 1945
Film opens showing people in an American city (possibly Chicago) celebrating the Allied victory over Japan on VJ Day, August 15th, 1945. Scene shifts abruptly to Chicago, Illinois, where French General Charles de Gaulle is seen saluting in a reviewing stand at Victory Plaza near Lasalle Street entrance to City Hall. (On August 24th, he had accepted an invitation from Mayor Edward Kelly to stop in Chicago on August 27-28, 1945, during his visit to the U.S. and Canada.) Next, general de Gaulle and Mayor Kelly are seen in an open car in a motorcade amidst crowds of well-wishers. Enthusiastic spectators run along side their car. Glimpse of a dense crowd of people, including a contingent of sailors in dress whites. Final scene shows General de Gaulle speaking with reporters and photographers near a sign reading "W-G-N." (A Chicago radio station). (World War II period).

What appears to be a fortress, with flag flying over it and a very tall steel tower standing in front of substantial buildings near the water's edge. Egyptian fishing boats docked at breakwater in Port-Said, with Statue of Ferdinand de Lesseps in the background. Camera pans along the waterway, photographing a steamship and more fishing sail boats in the vicinity of the Lesseps monument. Scene shifts to the land, where local people are going about their routine workaday activities. It appears to be late in the day, with lengthened shadows and most shops closed. View changes to looking down from a fortress where visitors are going up stairs. Then a view from high up on a cross bridge where visitors have a view of rock outcroppings and excavations and a cave related to Suez canal construction. Another scene depicts several historic-looking buildings and a deep basin so large that Egyptian youths are playing football (soccer) in it. (Note: the film is reversed.)

Then an announcer asks if they should make the entertainers stay over a day. All shout and applaud in agreement. Distant view of the entertainers on a stage. A sailor (announcer) on stage, comments on the enthusiam of the audience. View from behind sailors standing on improvised platforms at rear of the space. Other random views of sailors in audience. Another distant view of the stage. Random closeups of audience members standing in various locations. Some are perched on hangar equipment. Finally, the camera shows Sammy Davis Jr. onstage with dancers moving behind him rhythmically, as he speaks. He expresses appreciation to the officers and USO officials who made their visit and show possible.
