Marshal Petain is called to be the leader of Vichy France in the wake of WW2

End of the Third French Republic, on 10 July 1940, in World War II as the parliament gives full powers to 84-year-old Marshal Philippe Pétain. He is seen entering a hall, accompanied by Philippe Henriot (clean-shaven). The camera follows as Pétain walks amongst legislators gathered in the hall. Among those seen is Assembly leader, Jean-Marcel Jeanneney, standing with arms folded. Shift in time and place shows Pétain seated as he prepares to broadcast remarks to Vichy France citizens. Standing nearby is Philippe Henriot (with moustache). The two discuss a ceremony and remarks to be made. Pétain makes some test remarks into a microphone.
