Second battle of El Alamein in Egypt between Allied Forces and German Forces in October, 1942. Clock tower in U.S. BBC announces that Axis forces of the Afrika Corps (Africa Corps) under German commander Rommel are in full retreat in El Alamein, Egypt. Tanks continue advance under artillery cover in battlefield. Views of captured German planes, artillery, tanks and prisoners. Some artillery and tanks destroyed or still smoldering from recent attack on the retreating German forces, including smoldering Panzer tanks (Pz IV). Five divisions of Italian soldiers in the South, abandoned by Rommel are swept up by Allied forces. Italian prisoners kneel at a ditch and drink water from it. German prisoners march under guard. The Neo-Classical building is the Texas State Capital at Austin, Texas and Austin Texas is noted on the graduate’s diploma “Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas”. At this time the 349th Troop Carrier Group was based at Bergstrom and assigned to the Third Air Force, Tactical Air Command as noted on the diploma. Also “Air Force Combat Units of World War II” Edited by Maurer Maurer states this unit trained Chinese crews to operate C-46 aircraft. Film is very interesting in that it visually shows the transition from “Army brown to Air Force Blue” for the C-46s still carry the I TROOP CARRIER COMMAND insigne on the nose, with was disbanded on 4 Nov 1945 but they have the new AAF wide "Buzz Numbers" for all aircraft operating solely within the continental USA, by T.O. 07-1-1 of November 1945 and the graduate’s diploma is notating the new post-war air force type command reorganization of March 1946.

They tip and wave their hats. People stand beside a train at the railroad train station. Destruction in coastal northeast USA from the 1944 "Great Atlantic Hurricane" (First example of a named hurricane in the US)

Views of The Great Atlantic Hurricane lashing at northeast United States areas (after having already hit the North Carolina Outer Banks), and views of the aftermath and early cleanup following the storm. Regions shown include Atlantic City, Long Island (where it came ashore as a category 3 hurricane on September 15, 1944), New York City suburbs, and parts of New England. High surf flooding boardwalks and coastal cities. Trees bent over and snapped in high winds. People walking with difficulty in the high winds. Streets of towns submerged in water. Coastal docks destroyed and large boats scattered high onto shore areas. Trees, poles, and wires downed over roads and homes. Entire homes moved off of their foundations and placed down the street. The "Great Atlantic Hurricane" was the first example of a named hurricane by the Miami Hurricane Warning Office, which later became the National Hurricane Center. The name was meant to reflect the hurricane's size and intensity.
